What is the Paleolithic Diet? Where did it come from? How does it work?
The paleolithic diet goes by many different names, such as the cave man diet, the primal diet, the
paleo diet and many others. In short, the paleolithic diet is just the diet that was eaten by early
man, before the advent of farming. Farming completely changed the way we eat and also
introduced wheat, grains, legumes, dairy and potatoes into our diets. None of which our digestive
system was designed to ingest.
The paleolithic diet is quickly becoming very popular due to its health benefits. The food supply
today is full of toxins, preservatives, processed sugar, unhealthy fats and devoid of nutrients . The
rise in type I and type II diabetes has never been so prevalent in our history as it is today. People
are turning to the paleolithic diet because it is the answer to our health problems. Obesity is at an
all time high and the government keeps forcing wheat, grains and dairy down our throats with their
food pyramid because it’s such big business. Well guess what? 20,000 years ago we didn’t eat
those foods and we weren’t obese or had diabetes.
Our organs and digestive system stopped evolving about 40,000 years ago. So basically what we
were eating at that point is what we should be eating now! If you think about it, 40,000 years ago
we had to hunt and gather food every day. That was the way we lived. Our goal everyday was to
hunt and gather food so we can eat. We hunted wild game, fish, birds and gathered fruits,
vegetables, nuts and berries. Nothing was processed to last longer. We ate it as soon as we got it.
The Paleolithic Diet is more about what NOT to eat
This is a lifestyle not a “diet”. The paleolithic diet is about feeding your body for nutrition, which is
the reason we eat in the first place. The main idea in the paleolithic diet is to stay away from the
foods that make us fat and unhealthy. Those foods are wheat, grains, legumes, dairy and potatoes.
We have been told for the last 30 years that fat makes us fat and unhealthy. We are told to eat less
fat and more wheat. Well, as we can see from the huge rise in obesity it’s not the fat that is making
us fat… It’s the wheat and grains that skyrocket our insulin levels every time we eat them that
makes us fat.
The paleolithic diet is about avoiding the foods that harm us and eat the foods that nourish our
bodies. It’s not about changing your eating habits for a few weeks or months to lose weight and
then going back to your old was. It’s about changing your mindset about the food choices you
make. The paleo diet food list is made up of the best possible foods you can put into your body.
The two biggest benefits about the paleolithic diet are fat loss and a healthier body. No need to do
hours of cardio just to burn a few calories. Just eat the right foods and the fat will just melt off.

One of the best things I found on the internet to help me with the paleolithic diet was the Paleo
Recipe Book. This eRecipe book has over 370 recipes that include paleo breakfast, lunch, dinner,
snacks and dessert. It includes pictures of the meals and easy to follow preparation instructions. I
highly recommend you get a copy if you want to eat a paleolithic diet. It makes it very easy to stick
to the diet because your really don’t have to think about what to eat. Just pick something that looks
good to you and get cooking.
